Our home already includes our older cat, Mojo, but today I would like to introduce the two rescues who have joined our family. Squeaks and Mika arrived under different circumstances and have very different personalities, but each one has brought something special into our home.
About a year ago, a Lakewood Forest resident found Squeaks when he was still a very young kitten. We were fortunate enough to adopt him and give him a home of his own.
Squeaks has since grown into a gregarious, playful, and affectionate boy. He loves carrying his toys around in his mouth and proudly parading them through the house. His curiosity and enthusiasm make sure there is never a dull moment when he is nearby. He is full of mayhem and mischief and we love him for it.
Last week, we welcomed Mika(美花) into our family after adopting her from Harris County Pets.
Mika is a gentle and loving girl who prefers to stay close to her humans. She is still becoming familiar with her new surroundings, so we are giving her plenty of time, patience, and reassurance as she settles in. Each day, we see a little more of her gentle personality beginning to emerge.
While Squeaks approaches life with boundless energy, Mika is quieter and more watchful. They may be very different, but both have already shown us how much love a rescue animal can bring into a home. In Japanese her name means beautiful flower.
Opening your home to a rescue animal is a meaningful way to change a life, and these animals have a wonderful way of changing yours in return. A house becomes a true home when it is filled with love and perhaps a few rescue pets.
